This workshop will focus on color – and Ann will talk about values; saturation (intensity) of colors; how to create those luscious greys; the difference between cool and warm colors. You will be preparing a color chart for everyone to take home, as well as a small value study in monocromatic colors.
Ann will also be doing a demo in the morning, followed by one-on-one instruction for all participants as you work on your own paintings.

ANN WILLSIE BIOGRAPHY
Impressionistic, intuitive paintings of nature close up , on a personal level – this is what lies at the root of Ann’s paintings. She attended Kwantlen University College where she achieved the Dean’s Honour Roll, and has attended numerous workshops and mentorships with professional artists since. Ann has been exhibiting her work for over 18 years throughout British Columbia , Alberta and Ontario, and her paintings are held in collections around the world. Ann now paints and teaches painting workshops at her studio, Studio Cerulean, in Lake Country, B.C.
I have been painting “en plein air” for over 5 years now, and I love it. There is just something exhilarating about taking my painting gear outside, exploring trails and backroads that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise seen, and setting up my easel and paints in the middle of a field of tall grass, or beside a meandering river. Light changes constantly, and it is a challenge to capture this light on the canvas. Sometimes the field studies done en plein air result in a large painting of the same subject back at the studio.
