ARTIST STATEMENT
I have been painting “en plein air” for over 5 years now, and I love it. There is just something exhilarating about taking my painting gear outside, exploring trails and backroads that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise seen, and setting up my easel and paints in the middle of a field of tall grass, or beside a meandering river. Light changes constantly, and it is a challenge to capture this light on the canvas. Sometimes the field studies done en plein air result in a large painting of the same subject back at the studio.
