About the Opera Kelowna Society
The Opera Kelowna Society is a registered non-profit regional opera company and training centre for promising operatic artists. We create high caliber opera that is accessible to both opera lovers and future enthusiasts. We foster an environment where artists are encouraged to learn from each other by engaging a blend of professionals, community members, students and emerging professionals. Opera Kelowna is dedicated to equipping, educating, enlightening, enriching and entertaining diverse audiences through a rich array of operatic performing arts and programming of the most compelling vocal works, both past and present.
The visionary founder of Opera Kelowna Alexandra Babbel, has envisioned building an opera company and vocal education programs that would transform the musical and cultural landscape of our region.
Our performing season is focused on one full mainstage opera each year with several operatic productions to round out the year. In addition, our Young Artist Vocal Education and outreach programs – In-Class Opera Productions and School Tours – takes opera to schools, engaging youth in our community in the cultural experience that is opera.
