Painting the Figure From Life with Ingrid Christensen
Working from a model, you'll learn about the amazing and powerful connections that link the body together in a graceful gesture. You'll discover the liberating fact that you can throw away pencils and grids, and capture the most complex poses accurately, with only a brush and a squint.
Using group demonstrations and individual instruction, Ingrid will help you solve the mysteries of flesh tones, body proportion, and light temperature. You'll work on both short studies and longer poses over the course of the workshop, developing confidence in both the layering technique, and your ability to render a figure with your brush.
This workshop is suitable for acrylic or oil. Demonstrations will be in oil.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Ingrid Christensen is a Canadian Impressionist painter working in oil.
Inspired by the complex rendering of light in French and Russian Impressionism, and by the bravura brushwork of painters such as Zorn, Sorolla and Sargent, Ingrid strives to meld both into her own, unique style. Her subjects are figures and still life, with a special interest in images of figures in water.
Ingrid's bold and colourful paintings have won honours and awards in both national and international exhibitions, and she has been featured in Arabella, and International Artist magazines. Ingrid teaches oil painting workshops in Canada and Mexico, and she is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and Oil Painters of America. Her work is represented in galleries in Western Canada and Portland, Maine.
